In 2017, one of my goals is to donate $20.17 each month to a different charity or cause that I’m passionate about. I’ll still feature other nonprofits and social enterprises in the Give Back section, but I wanted to share this challenge with you, as well. I hope I can introduce you to some great organizations and maybe even inspire you to join me in this monthly challenge!
As an avid podcast listener and news junky, I love NPR. National Public Radio is a nonprofit media organization that produces high quality journalism that’s *mostly* nonpartisan (because is anything ever 100% nonpartisan?).
In today’s world of fake news, biased reporting and frankly, the internet the way it is, it’s often difficult to find news you can trust. Now don’t get me wrong, I love Buzzfeed and Twitter, but those aren’t reliable sources of news.
NPR has affiliates all over the country that are independently owned and locally operated, not run by a central conglomerate. I’m proud to support an organization like NPR that holds themselves to high standards of reporting while producing quality content.
Outside of news, I’m a huge fan of NPR affiliates’ podcasts! Some of my favorites are Radiolab and Radiolab Presents More Perfect from WNYC and This American Life and Serial from WBEZ. And since I consume this free media, I think it’s only right to give back and support them financially.
