Last week I saw Coldplay in concert! Thank you so much to my friend and her mom for letting me tag along!! I remember my mom listening to Coldplay CDs back in the early 2000s, so I was pumped to finally see them live. And they DID NOT disappoint! Even though it rained through part of the set, I didn’t care – it added to the magic!
Between the staging and lights to Chris Martin’s energetic dancing to the confetti cannons and light up bracelets, their show felt like the audience was participating in this experience with them, not merely watching.
Check out some of my favorite Coldplay songs! Which ones am I missing that you think should be on the list?
1. Every Teardrop is a Waterfall
Don’t want to see another generation drop, I’d rather be a comma than a full stop. ~ I love the guitar solo! I just want to jump around and dance.
2. Lovers in Japan // Reign of Love
How I wish I’d spoken up to a reign of love. ~ I’m all about piano-driven songs, which is one reason I love Coldplay. Lovers in Japan is mesmerizing in its own way, but Reign of Love is absolutely beautiful, even more so that it’s hidden within a more lively track.
Trouble that can’t be named, a tiger’s waiting to be tamed. ~ I couldn’t NOT include Clocks, c’mon! I learned this song on piano when I was younger, so it has some sentimental value 😉
4. Green Eyes
The green eyes, yeah the spotlight, shines upon you. ~ This is one of my favorite Coldplay songs of all time. It’s nothing special. It’s simple, yet beautiful. And I also have green eyes, so if my future husband is reading this, you should learn to play guitar and sing to me at our wedding (too much?).
You can take a picture of something you see, in the future where will I be? ~ This is the first Coldplay song I vividly remember hearing, especially that guitar solo.
6. Don’t Panic
We live in a beautiful world. ~ Yes, we do.
7. Til Kingdome Come
I don’t know which way I’m going, I don’t know what I’ve become. ~ I’m a sucker for their acoustic love songs!
8. Fix You
Lights will guide you home and ignite your bones. ~ A classic Coldplay song, the guitar solo bridge gives me chills everytime. I feel like I could take on anything during that build. Well done, boys.
9. Us Against the World
Through chaos as it swirls, it’s us against the world. ~ During this song, cameras panned the audience and it was a really sweet moment of everyone just slowing down and enjoying the beauty of the moment.
10. Lost! (and Lost?)
Just because I’m hurting doesn’t mean I’m hurt. ~ I love both versions of this song! I think Lost! feels more of a matter of fact statement and Lost? is a more somber and melancholy reflection. Both are valid points of view, but both have distinct emotions.
11. Life in Technicolor
This song actually doesn’t have lyrics, but I love the instrumentation! You still feel such emotion and it really showcases their talent and versatility- you can still grasp the same emotions from their lyrics as you do from the music itself. Life in Technicolor ii has lyrics, but I’m a fan of the non-lyric version.
