Lent: Week 5

This year for Lent, I’m working through the Beauty in the Common Lent Guide. Part of this guide is a photo challenge. Here is my fifth week! If you missed them, check out week one, week twoweek three and week four.

Day 34: Beauty in Pain

This was such a gloomy day. I know the rain means that spring is here and summer is coming, but it still doesn’t mean I like these kinds of days. The seasons of life also come with gloomy transitions, even painful ones. But the hope of the next chapter makes them bearable.

“Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along.” -Romans 8:26

Day 35: Beauty in the Valley

I found out I didn’t get a job I really, really wanted. It’s not the end of the world, but it still stings. However, I know this just means something better is coming along soon. ☀️

“‘Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you. I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you. When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.'” -Isaiah 43:1b-2a

Day 36 & 37: Beauty in Victory and Beauty in Joy

I’m so thankful for this goofy & amazing group of women. We celebrate in each other’s victories and give support in each other’s losses. They bring me so much joy!! #shesus #YAWSG #sogood

“It’s better to have a partner than go it alone. Share the work, share the wealth.” -Ecclesiastes 4:9

Day 38: Beauty in the Stillness

I love a good lazy afternoon! House to myself, rest day from running, almost done with a good book, backyard is starting to look green… happy spring, indeed!

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” -Psalm 46:10

Day 39 & 40: Beauty in Blessing and Beauty in Discipline

This Lent Challenge has been such a blessing, but it’s actually taken a lot of discipline. Every day I’ve been meditating on the word of the day, seeking out the beauty in that idea, listening to the verses put on my heart. I’ve also been journaling almost daily this Lenten season. For me, this has taught me so much more than giving up chocolate for a month could have.
